Brenda Broome Smith

January 18, 1948 - April 29, 2022

Mrs. Brenda Broome Smith, 74, of Pageland, SC went to be with her Lord on Friday, April 29, 2022 at home while surrounded by her loving family. Brenda was born on January 18, 1948 in Monroe, NC to the late Pierce J. and Margie Pigg Broome. She was also predeceased by her infant brother, Barry Broome; sister, Beverlyn and her brother-in-law, Richard Mehaffey. Brenda is survived by her high school sweetheart and husband of 53 years, Byron A. (Beaver) Smith of the home. She is also survived by her son, Byron A. Smith (Stacey) and her grandson, Byron Austin Smith (Chance) and their daughter, Lynnlee Grace of Greenwood, SC and her step granddaughter, Kassie Riley (Blake) and their son, Wes of Hartsville, SC. Mrs. Smith is also survived by her brothers-in-law, William (Carol) and Richard (Elaine) Duncan and sister-in-law, Mary Miller (James). Additional survivors are nieces, Stacey Stevens, Meredith Dolan (Jeff) and nephews, Rhett Graves (Jackie) and Ragan Graves and their children, Abby Stevens, Pierce (Aleah) and their daughter, Presley, Jackson and Draden Dolan, Hayden, Jessie and Carter Graves and Amber, Bryson, Summer and Colton Graves and many cousins and friends. Mrs. Smith ran a Day Care Center for a time in Hartsville, SC before graduating from Nursing School and beginning her career as an R.N. Her devotion to her patients and their care extended to hospitals, including ICU Care and Home Health Services before concluding her career as a School Nurse. Brenda was a wonderful and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Her greatest joy was having her family together. Brenda, Beaver and the family especially enjoyed camping trips to the mountains and beach. Brenda was a long time member of Pageland First Baptist Church, Pageland, SC and she and Beaver were members of the Joyful Noise Sunday School Class. They also enjoyed spending time with the members of the Happy Hearts Senior Group. There will be a Celebration of Life Graveside Service on Wednesday, May 4, 2022 at 11:00 AM with Dr. Joel Dale officiating in the church cemetery with visitation to follow. Baumgartner Funeral Home of Pageland, South Carolina (www.baumgartnerfh.com) is assisting the Smith family.
