Donald Ray Harper, 53, of Garden City, SC, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Friday, February 4, 2022 at his residence. He was born December 13, 1968 in Charlotte, NC, son of Randall Melton Harper and Gail Plyler Harper. In addition to his parents, left to remember his memories are his brother, Craig Harper (Missy); uncles, Roger Plyler (Sheila) and Stephen Plyler (Cindi Naylor); niece, Natalie Harper; nephew, Nick Neal (Deven); and cousin, Beth Plyler Halasz (Daniel); as well as many friends. Donald grew up in Indian Trail, graduating from Sun Valley High School. He held a variety of jobs, including HVAC, roofing, and warehousing. He loved playing his drums and enjoyed spending time riding his Harley. One of his nicknames was, “$5 Man,” if he had $5 in his pocket, he had no worries. Donald never met a stranger and he loved to make people laugh and smile. He always enjoyed life and will be remembered forever. The family will receive friends from 4:00 - 6:00pm Tuesday, February 08, 2022 at Burroughs Funeral Home, 3558 Old Kings Hwy., Murrells Inlet, SC 29576. A graveside service will be held 1:00 pm Wednesday, February 9, 2022 at Zion United Methodist Church Cemetery, 647 Zion Church Rd., Pageland, SC 29728. At the request of the family, please consider memorial contributions in lieu of flowers. Memorials in Donald’s name may be made to Glenns Bay Baptist Church, 1835 Glenns Bay Rd., Surfside Beach, SC 29575 or Zion UMC, Building Fund, 647 Zion Church Road, Pageland, SC 29728.
