Ann Jenkins
Peay
Jan 11, 1938 — Dec 27, 2024
Ann Jenkins Peay, 86, of Pageland, SC passed away peacefully on December 27, 2024. Born on January 11, 1938, in the same town she would later leave her indelible mark, Ann's life was a testament to the enduring power of love, family, and service.
Ann's early years were spent in the nurturing embrace of the Dudley community, where she was born to the late Claude and Mary Hicks Jenkins. Ann's beloved brother, Jerry Jenkins, who predeceased her, shared in her early memories that shaped their values and outlook on life.
The love story between Ann and her late husband, Nick Austin Peay, Sr., was one for the ages. Together, they cultivated not only the land on their farm, but also a family legacy that would stand the test of time. Their son, Nick Austin Peay, Jr. (Cheryl), and grandson, David Andrew Peay, both of Pageland, remain as living testaments to Ann and Nick's devotion to family and community.
Ann's hands were rarely still, as she found joy and purpose in sewing alterations for her neighbors, infusing each stitch with care and attention to detail. Her love for reading provided a window to worlds beyond her own, while her cooking brought warmth and comfort to any table. The home she meticulously cared for was a reflection of her dedication to the life she and Nick built together.
A woman of faith, Ann's involvement with her church family was a cornerstone of her life. She imparted wisdom and love as a Sunday School Teacher for the Win-Some class, later joining the Joyful Noise class, nurturing the spiritual growth of countless individuals over the years.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 2, 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM in the First Baptist Church of Pageland Fellowship Hall.
