Anna Lou
Ellwanger
Jan 17, 1932 — May 12, 2024
Anna Lou Ellwanger, 92, of Pageland, SC, affectionately known as Anne to her friends and family, passed away peacefully on May 12, 2024. She was born on January 17, 1932 in Monroe, North Carolina to the late Gary Evans and Berchie Funderburk Evans. She is predeceased by her husband, Don Ellwanger, Sr., daughter, Lou Ann Farnsworth; brother, Wilson Evans and sister, Frankie Laney.
Anne's journey through life was marked by her unwavering faith and the love she bestowed upon those around her. She was a cornerstone of the Liberty Hill Baptist Church, where she dedicated thirty-seven years to playing the organ, filling the sanctuary with music that touched the hearts of many. Her commitment to her church community was a testament to her faith-filled life.
In her professional life, Anne was known for her precision and dedication as a bookkeeper with Chesco Services. Her meticulous nature and warm personality made her a valued member of the team and a friend to all who worked alongside her.
Family was the center of Anne's world. She is survived by her adoring grandson, Bradley Jordan (Katie) of Pageland, SC; her son, Don Ellwanger (Jenny) of Sacramento, CA and her brother, Lindsey Evans (Vivian) of Pageland, SC. She was also a beloved aunt to numerous nieces and nephews each of whom she cherished and nurtured with love and kindness, and loved all her church family and friends.
Anne's interests and hobbies were as varied as they were fulfilling. A faithful member of the Liberty Hill Baptist Church, she not only served through music but also participated in the Busy Fingers Group and always supported the backpack ministry for the less fortunate. With her skilled hands, she crafted blankets out of plastic bags for the homeless, a true embodiment of her loving and thoughtful nature. She loved spending time with all her family. Her leisure time was spent enjoying the simple pleasures of life: reading books, doing puzzles, cooking, and watching Hallmark movies. She had a special fondness for observing the beauty of humming birds and spent countless hours in their tranquil company. Her talents in quilting and knitting brought warmth and comfort to many, and her creations will be cherished for generations to come.
Anne was a woman whose presence was a blessing to all who knew her. Described by those who loved her as loving, thoughtful, and faith-filled, she approached life with a gentle strength and a compassionate heart.
