Betty Deese
Wilbanks
May 29, 1935 — Feb 24, 2025
Betty Deese Wilbanks, 89, of Pageland, SC passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, February 24, 2025. She was born on May 29, 1935 in Jefferson, South Carolina to the late Oris Jordan and Nellie Sutton Jordan.
Her life was enriched by the love and companionship of her first husband, Basil Lee Deese, with whom she shared the joy of raising their son, Randel Lee Deese. After Basil's passing, Betty found love again and married Joe L. Wilbanks, who also predeceased her. Her family circle included her devoted sister, Edith Sabia of Tennessee, and her beloved grandchildren, Toby Deese (Madison) of Jefferson, SC, and Courtney Laughlin (Greg) of Myrtle Beach, SC, as well as her treasured great-grandchildren, Alia Laughlin and Hampton Deese. Betty's legacy continues through her family, including her nieces Denise Jordan of Kershaw, SC, Megan Jordan Jones of Myrtle Beach, SC, and her cherished fur babies, Bo and Smokey.
Throughout her life, Betty's heart was always open to others, creating lasting bonds with close friends Penny Gurganious (Jeff Miller) and Kay Baker, both of Pageland, SC. Her brothers, Jack Jordan and David W. Jordan, her son, Randel, and her daughter in law, Tracy Deese predeceased her, leaving behind memories that will be forever held dear by those who loved them.
Betty's interests were a reflection of her character; she was a regular at the nutrition center in Pageland, where she enjoyed the camaraderie and community spirit and also worked for about 20 years. Her love for animals was evident in the care she provided for her pets, who were a constant source of joy and companionship. She worked at the Cuddy Egg Farm for over thirty years. Betty's faith was an integral part of her life, where she was a member of Zion United Methodist Church in Pageland, SC, she was a dedicated attendee of the Rose of the Nazarene Church in Pageland and she also attended Oak Street Baptist Fellowship in Pageland, SC where she found solace and strength in her beliefs.
An avid fish lover, Betty relished the simple pleasure of a good meal, sharing stories and laughter with family and friends over her favorite dish. Her presence at family gatherings and community events was a reminder of the beauty of a life well-lived, filled with kindness, generosity, sense of humor, and an unwavering commitment to those she loved.
