Obituary

Billy Roscoe Plyler, 81, of Pageland, SC passed away peacefully on May 26, 2025 while surrounded by his loving family. Billy was born on March 6, 1944, in Monroe, North Carolina, he was the son of the late Isom and Velma Helms Plyler. He was predeceased by his sisters, Eldis Arant, Betty Jo Plyler and Evelene Laney, and his brother, Ray Plyler.

Billy was a devoted husband to his late wife, Barbara Jean Rape Plyler, and together they built a legacy of love and family. He is survived by his sons, Brian Plyler (Pamela) of Ruby, SC, Jeffery Channing Plyler (Angela "Sissy") of Pageland, SC, and daughter, Jennifer Stancil (Mike) of Oakboro, NC. His joy was multiplied by his grandchildren, Joshua Plyler (Kristen), Jacob Plyler (Jessica), Joey Plyler, Carley Stancil, and Landry Stancil, and great-grandchildren, Emma Grace Plyler, Allie Plyler, and Louise Plyler. Billy also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and his beloved furbaby, Bessie.

For almost 30 years, Billy dedicated his professional life to Allvac. His colleagues respected him for his integrity and his down-to-earth nature, making him a valued member of the team until his retirement.

Billy's interests were a reflection of his love for the outdoors and the simple pleasures in life. He was an avid gardener, taking pride in his ability to cultivate a wide variety of plants and vegetables. His enthusiasm for tractor shows was well-known, as he enjoyed both participating in and attending these events, sharing his knowledge and appreciation for these powerful machines.

Above all, Billy loved his family. He was a pillar of strength, support, and love for each family member, always offering a listening ear or a helping hand. His presence at family gatherings will be deeply missed, but his spirit will continue to live on in the stories shared and the memories cherished by those who knew him best.

Billy was a long-time member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church, where he found spiritual solace and community. His faith was an integral part of his life, guiding him through good times and bad, and providing a foundation for the values he instilled in his family.

The family would like to express their appreciation to his caregivers Brandy Jennings and Diane Martin.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM on Sunday, June 1, 2025 at Wolf Pond Baptist Church.

There will be a Celebration of Life Funeral Service on Sunday, June 1, 2025 at 3:00 PM at Wolf Pond Baptist Church with Pastor Mark Evans officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery in Monroe, NC.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Wolf Pond Baptist Church, 78 Wolf Pond Church Rd., Pageland, South Carolina 29728.
