Carson D. "Pete" Courtney, 81, of Pageland, SC passed away on Tuesday, November 27, 2018. He was born in Pageland, SC on June 10, 1937 to the late George W. and Ethel Hicks Courtney. Pete graduated from Pageland High School, where he was outstanding in football, baseball, and basketball. His favorite pastime throughout his adult life was playing golf. He was an avid South Carolina Gamecocks fan and enjoyed watching college and pro sports. Pete was retired from Conbraco Industries. He was a member of High Point Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, Pete was predeceased by a sister, Georgia Mae C. Davis and her husband, John and his sister-in-law, Arline M. Courtney. Survivors include his son, Brent Courtney (fiance, Barbara Allen) of Cheraw, SC, daughter, Kim Connors (Jim) of Winston Salem, NC, grandchildren, Isis Courtney, Sky Courtney, Kaitlyn Connors and Ryan Connors, brother, Dwight Courtney of Pageland, SC and sister, Jerolyn Mungo (Rev. Ernest) of Monroe, NC, also numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. A Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be held at 3:15 P.M. on Sunday, December 2, 2018 at High Point Baptist Church with Rev. Ernest Mungo officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Dr. Joel Dale officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service on Sunday, December 2, 2018 from 2:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. in the Sanctuary of High Point Baptist Church, 16 High Point Church Road, Pageland, SC 29728. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to High Point Baptist Church, 16 High Point Church Road, Pageland, SC 29728.
