Obituary

Ms. Cathy Leaird, 73, of Pageland, SC passed away on Thursday, June 1, 2023 at the McWhorter Hospice House in Monroe, NC with her loving family by her side. Ms. Leaird was born on April 7, 1950 in Monroe, NC to the late Byron Lee Mangum and Tressie Richardson Mangum. Cathy was a member of First Baptist Church of Pageland and the Joyful Noise Sunday School Class. She cherished the worship time at church. Cathy would send out cards and devotionals to people through the S.H.A.R.E. Ministry. She loved spending time with her family and going out to eat with her friends. She also was looking forward to the arrival of her soon to be precious great granddaughter, "Baby Peeps." Cathy enjoyed watching older television shows, especially "The Andy Griffith Show." Ms. Leaird is survived by her sons, John Ryan Leaird (Angela K.) of Monroe, NC and their children, Matthew Leaird and Catie Leaird and Mitch Leaird of Pageland, SC and his children, Amber Leaird and Daniel Leaird; sister, Susan Mangum of Pageland, SC; soon to be precious great granddaughter, "Baby Peeps"; friend of the heart, Robert "Mickey" Leaird; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends and her beloved pet, Cocoa. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM on Monday, June 5, 2023 at First Baptist Church of Pageland. There will be a Celebration of Life Memorial Service at 2:00 PM on Monday, June 5, 2023 at First Baptist Church of Pageland with Dr. Joel Dale officiating. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Union County, 700 W. Roosevelt Blvd., Monroe, NC 28110. Baumgartner Funeral Home of Pageland, South Carolina (www.baumgartnerfh.com) is serving the Leaird family.
