Mrs. Deane Brooks Mungo, 82, of Pageland, South Carolina passed away Saturday, October 28, 2017. Deane was born in Union County, North Carolina on February 16, 1935 to the late George Wilson Brooks and Genevieve Brewer Brooks. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Pageland where she was a member of the Winsome Sunday School Class and served on the building and grounds committee. She was also a member of the Eastern Star. She was a strong supporter in her community whether volunteering at the voting polls or simply helping others in some way. She was always a giver not a taker with a quiet and kind personality. In her free time, Deane loved to plant flowers in her garden, sew, cook, as well as take trips with the senior group at First Baptist Church of Pageland. She was an avid NASCAR fan who always pulled for Dale Jr. Deane was known affectionately as "Nana Clause" and "Whistle" by her grandchildren and family whom she loved with all her heart. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. In addition to her parents, Deane is preceded in death by her husband, Thomas W. Mungo. Those left to celebrate and remember her life include her loving sons, Thomas Rein Mungo (Susan) of Conway, South Carolina and George Randall Mungo (Stephanie) of Lexington, South Carolina; two grandchildren, Brianna Mungo and Madalyn Mungo both of Lexington, South Carolina; brothers, Don Wilson Brooks (Doris) of Monroe, North Carolina and John Dennis Brooks (Brenda-Predeceased) of Marshville, North Carolina, and loving nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be held at First Baptist Church of Pageland at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, October 31, 2017 with Dr. Joel Dale officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will greet friends prior to the service from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM in the Fellowship Hall of First Baptist Church of Pageland, 203 West Pigg Street, Pageland, South Carolina 29728.
