Don George Helms, known affectionately as Don, 83, of Pageland, SC passed away on October 13, 2024 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on June 17, 1941 in Monroe, North Carolina to the late George Helms and Ada Greene Helms and predeceased by his great-granddaughter, Peighton Horne; granddaughter, Natalee Helms and daughter-in-law, Rachel Helms.

Don's 41-year marriage to his beloved wife, Darlene "Debbie" Helms of Pageland, SC, was a testament to enduring love and partnership. He is survived by his sons, Danny Helms of St. Paul, Minnesota, Aaron Helms (Mandy) of Pageland, SC, and David Helms (Amy) of Pageland, SC; daughters, Tammie Atkinson (Andy) of Pageland, SC, Joni Eargle Gomer (Dave) of Indian Land, SC, Jennifer Bristow (Victor) of Pageland, SC, and Jessica Weed (James) of Heath Springs, SC and his brother, Roy Helms (Virginia) of Marshville, NC. The legacy of Don's kind and loving spirit will live on through his eighteen grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren, each of whom he cherished deeply.

Don's life was marked by a passion for the simple pleasures and the great outdoors. He had an enduring love for traveling to the mountains. He was an avid fan of drag racing. His love for the outdoors extended to his meticulous care for his lawn, often seen mowing grass.

Known as a jack of all trades, Don's hands were rarely still. He loved his tools and knew the specific place of each one, taking pride in his ability to fix and create.

Family was the cornerstone of Don's world. He loved to spend time with his loved ones, embodying the role of a simple and humble man whose presence was a comfort to all. His laughter was infectious, filling the room with warmth and joy, and his blue eyes sparkled with the prettiest light, reflecting the love he held for his family.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM on Thursday, October 17, 2024 at Rose Memorial Church of the Nazarene.

There will be a Celebration of Life Funeral Service on Thursday, October 17, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Rose Memorial Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Scott Gibson officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park of Pageland.
