Mr. Don Wilson Horne, 81, of Pageland, SC passed away peacefully in Charlotte, North Carolina on April 13, 2024. He was born on March 5, 1943, in Monroe, North Carolina to the late, John Wilson Horne and Zelma Sims Horne. Don's life was a testament to his loving nature, thoughtfulness, and handy skills, which he generously shared with everyone around him.

Don's journey began in Monroe, where his early years were filled with the warmth of a close-knit community and the foundations of a life that would be marked by hard work and dedication. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to a successful career as the owner and operator of the Salvage Store & Trucking Co. and the operator of the Roundabout Salvage Stores in Pageland, Monroe and Mint Hill. Don's business acumen also shone through in his management of various nightclubs in Charlotte, including Panamas, Disco 9000 and Neon's, where he was a well-known figure in the local entertainment scene.

Aside from his professional endeavors, Don was a man of many passions. He had a profound love for motorcycles and NASCAR, which provided him with endless joy and excitement. His adventurous spirit was matched by his love for his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, with whom he cherished spending time. Don's presence at family gatherings was always a source of happiness, and his stories and laughter will be deeply missed.

Don's legacy is carried on by his loving family. He is survived by his loving partner, Judy C. Dickerson of Pageland, SC; sons, Barry Horne (Kim Wertz) of Pageland, SC, Casey Horne (Trisha) of York, SC and Jansen Horne of Matthews, NC. He also played a significant role in the lives of his stepchildren, Ken Crawford, Keith Crawford, Tina Crawford Rose and Butch Waugh. Don's joy was multiplied by his grandchildren, Amanda Horne Cuthbertson of Albemarle, NC, Garrett Horne (Stacy Chavis) of Statesville, NC, Zachery Horne (Ashley) of Stallings, NC, Ava Horne and Zane Horne, and his great-grandchildren, Liam Jordan, Maddie Horne, Blake Horne, Londyn Cuthbertson and Layah Cuthbertson, who will all remember their beloved patriarch with fondness and pride.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM on April 15, 2024 at Baumgartner Funeral Home. There will be a Celebration of Life Funeral Service at 2:00 PM on Monday, April 15, 2024 at Baumgartner Funeral Home with Pastor Mack Mullis officiating.
