Obituary

Donald Lee Gaddy, a cherished soul known for his kindness, generosity, and thoughtfulness, passed away peacefully on December 15, 2023, at the age of 74. Born on August 26, 1949, in Pageland, South Carolina, Donald's journey through life was marked by the joy he brought to those around him and the love he had for his family, friends, and community.

Preceded in death by his parents, Jim Maples and Laura Johnson; brothers, Danny and James Gaddy; sisters, Leona Rivers and Sylvia Jackson; nephew, Chris Gaddy; and sister-in-law, Margaret Gaddy, Donald's legacy of love and compassion continues through his surviving family. He will be fondly remembered by his nieces and nephews, Tim Gaddy, Annette Gaddy, Dale Jackson, Scotty Jackson, Kimmie Rivers, Charles Ray Gaddy, Theresa Helms, and Debra Helms, as well as his sister-in-law, Mona Boykin. Each of them carries a piece of Donald's spirit, reflecting the values he instilled through his example.

An avid collector, Donald found joy in the simple pleasure of adding to his vast array of Hot Wheels, a hobby that brought him immense satisfaction and a sense of nostalgia. His collection was more than just a pastime; it was a testament to his appreciation for the finer details and the stories behind each piece.

Donald's love for music was evident in the melodies that flowed from his acoustic guitar. His talent was a source of entertainment and comfort, not only to himself but also to those who had the privilege of listening. His music was a reflection of his soul-gentle, rhythmic, and always from the heart.

A man with a big heart, Donald never hesitated to extend a helping hand to anyone in need. His generosity knew no bounds, and his actions often spoke louder than words. He was the embodiment of the adage that a friend in need is a friend indeed, and his willingness to support others was a cornerstone of his character.

Donald's love for a good yard sale was well-known among his friends and family. He delighted in the thrill of the hunt, always on the lookout for hidden treasures and unexpected finds. These excursions were more than just a hobby; they were adventures that fed his curious and spirited nature.

A faithful attendee of Center Grove Baptist Church, Donald's faith was a guiding light in his life. His commitment to his church community was unwavering, and his presence there was a source of strength and inspiration to many.
