Mr. Eddie Matthew Johnson, 79, of Pageland, SC passed away on Sunday, July 2, 2023 with his son by his side. Mr. Eddie was born on August 3, 1943 in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina to the late Elmo Lee Johnson and Mae Belle Sullivan Johnson. He was an avid collector of model cars. He also enjoyed watching his grandson play football. He was a lifelong short order cook and was the owner and operator of Eddie's Pit Stop Restaurant for many years. His ultimate love was his little dog, Lilly. He would take Lilly everywhere he went. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Cary Johnson; brothers, Henry Lee Johnson, and Robert Elmore Johnson and sisters, Sara Johnson Hinson, Carolyn J. Hancock and Jane Johnson Burch. Mr. Johnson is survived by his son, Matthew Johnson (Jeri Lee) of Pageland, SC; brother, Gerald Johnson of Pageland, SC; sister, Margie Hendrix of Pageland, SC; grandchildren, Miranda, Brandon and Chloe; great grandchildren, Charlotte, Declan and Davis. The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM Saturday, July 8, 2023 at Baumgartner Funeral Home.
