Obituary

Mr. Edward Francis Gaffney, 73, of Mint Hill, NC went to be with his Lord on July 17, 2017 while surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Edward Francis Gaffney was born in Norwalk, Connecticut to the late Joseph Gaffney and Clara Davis Gaffney on May 10, 1944. He later met and united in marriage to Anita Best. He loved to watch old war movies and collect clipper ships. He served in the US Navy during Vietnam. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Karen Caison. Those left to celebrate his life are his loving wife, Anita Gaffney of Mint Hill, NC, sons, Scott Matthew Gaffney of Virginia and Keith Caison and wife, Bernarda of Monroe, NC, daughter, Tina Shaw and husband, Phillip of Virginia, sister-in-law, Sherry Wolfe and husband, Paul of Elgin, SC, grandchildren, Juan Flores of Monroe, NC, Andrew Williams of Charlotte, NC, Nicholas Williams of Monroe, NC, Jonathan Riggins of Monroe, NC, Jensine Riggins of Charlotte, NC, Nathan Caison of Monroe, NC and Morgan Shaw of Virginia. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 PM on Thursday, July 20, 2017 at Baumgartner Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, July 21, 2017 at Baumgartner Funeral Home with Pastor Hank Griffin officiating. Burial to follow at White Plains Baptist Church in Jefferson, SC with Military Honors. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Wounded Warrior Project PO Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8517 or www.va.gov/homeless.
