Elaine Mungo Hendrix, 82, of Pageland, South Carolina passed away on Thursday August 7, 2025 in Lancaster, SC while surrounded by her loving family. She was born on May 1, 1943 in Pageland, SC to the late Perry F. Mungo and Lois Funderburk Mungo.

Her early years were filled with the warmth of a close-knit family, alongside her siblings, Theda Lynn, Mary Funderburk, Judy Mills, and Perry "Bo" Laney Mungo, all of whom preceded her in death, as did her adored infant daughter, Angel Faith Hendrix. Her legacy continues through her beloved husband of 61 years, Danny Hendrix of Pageland, SC; her son, Joseph D. Hendrix and daughter-in-law Lisa of Lancaster, SC, her treasured granddaughter, Angela Jean Hendrix of Pageland, SC; step granddaughters Cassidy Solomon of Myrtle Beach, SC, and Jessica Solomon of Summerville, SC, and Angela's mother, Gloria Hendrix of Pageland, SC. Elaine's spirit will also live on in the hearts of her numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In her younger days, she was a passionate artist and a graduate of King's College. She found solace and challenge in the twists and turns of Sudoku and crossword puzzles, and her love for reading transported her to worlds beyond her own. Elaine's culinary talents were legendary, and her kitchen was a place of gathering, laughter, and the irresistible aroma of home-cooked meals.

A woman of deep faith, Elaine was a faithful member of Providence Baptist Church in Pageland, SC, where she found strength and community. She was a devoted Christian who lived her beliefs through acts of kindness and her commitment to the Adult Ladies Class. Her love for her family was her guiding light, and her happiest moments were spent surrounded by her loved ones, whether it was on the sandy shores of the beach, around a campfire, or at the family table. Her enthusiasm for western square dancing was infectious, and her grace on the dance floor was a joy to behold.

Always ready with a smile that could light up a room, Elaine was known for her sweet disposition and her eagerness to go out and savor life's simple pleasures. Her presence was a comfort to many, and she was always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need.

Elaine's resilience was nothing short of inspiring. A three-time breast cancer survivor, she faced each challenge with unwavering courage and a positive outlook that encouraged everyone around her. Her strength was a testament to her character and an inspiration to all who knew her.

The family will receive friends on Friday, August 8, 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Providence Baptist Church, Pageland, SC.

There will be a Celebration of Life Graveside Service on Saturday, August 9, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Providence Baptist Church Cemetery with Pastor David Bridwell officiating.
