Mr. Ernest William Motes, 50, of Ruby, SC passed away on Friday, August 19, 2022 at his home in Ruby, SC. Mr. Motes was born on July 7, 1972 in Spartanburg, SC to Ernestine Burke Motes and the late Willie Lee Motes. He is preceded in death by his half-brother, Bobby "PJ" Willie Lee Motes, Sr. and his half-sister, Barbara Walker. He loved cars and car racing and was a member of the Power Fanatics Mustang Club of Monroe. Mr. Motes loved to travel to different places, listen to music and cook. He was considered the "grill master" by many who knew him. Because of his love for the outdoors, he loved to hunt and fish. Mr. Motes loved his grand babies dearly and was the type of person, "who never met a stranger." He was known for saying, "Bald is beautiful and fat where it's at." Mr. Motes is survived by his wife of 30 years, Vicky Lynn Motes of Ruby, SC; mother, Ernestine Burke Motes of Monroe, NC; son, Luis Miguel Nunez of Ruby, SC; daughters, Kelly Staton (Cameron) and Kayla Motes (Matt) both of Monroe, NC; Brother, Ronnie Lee Motes (Deborah) of Wingate, NC; grandchildren, Paizleigh Staton, Braylon Staton and Koa Nunez; half-brothers, Kenneth Scott Bruke of Marshaville, NC and Billy Motes (Susan) of Greycourt, SC; half-sisters, Brenda Hoard (Ronnie) of Clarksville, TN, Patricia Allen (Nathaniel) of Marshville, NC, Crystal Burke and Cynthia Burke both of Monroe, NC and son of the heart, Bobby Dale Wallace of Pageland, SC. The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 28, 2022 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Baumgartner Funeral Home. A Celebration of Funeral Service will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, August 28, 2022 at Baumgartner Funeral Home, 708 West McGregor Street, Pageland, SC 29728.
