Obituary

Blackwell, Eunice Fletcher, Pageland, SC Eunice Blackwell, 95, died November 17. Born February 17, 1917, to Charlie and Eunice (Ni-ce) Holley Fletcher, she graduated from Jefferson High School as salutatorian, Class of 1933. She served a term as PTA President, did some substitute teaching there, and taught Vacation Bible School for years. Later she was employed in Chesterfield County Health Department's Planned Parenthood home visitation/education program until retirement. Always first a homemaker, she gardened and was an excellent baker, living on the Blackwell farms with her husband of 42 years, James Lewis. She moved to Pageland in 1991 due to highway reconstruction. Mrs. Blackwell was preceded in death by her brother and sister, Bruce and Virginia (Tootsie) Fletcher and daughter Emily Claire Kleppel. Survivors are: daughter Frances and her husband Robert (Bob) Smith of Winter Park, FL; grandson Eric and his wife Melissa (Missy) and great-grandson Henry Fletcher Kleppel of Greenville, S.C.; sister-in-law Conya (Mrs. Judson) Blackwell of Lyman, S.C., and many wonderful nieces, nephews, and step-grands. Family will receive friends in the Fellowship Hall of First Baptist Church of Pageland 1-2 PM Saturday, November 24, 2012 preceding the funeral at 2 P.M., conducted by Dr. Joel Dale and Rev. Bob Smith. Music will be provided by Sam Horton, soloist and Jay Funderburk, organist. Interment will follow at White Plains Baptist Church Cemetery. All are welcome. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to First Baptist Church of Pageland, PO Box 126, Pageland, SC 29728 or White Plains Baptist Church, PO Box 219, Jefferson, SC 29718.
