Obituary

Georgia Faye Griffin, known affectionately as Faye to her family and friends, passed away peacefully with her daughter, Shannon and niece, Ann Catoe by her side on December 12, 2024, at the age of 88 in Rock Hill, South Carolina.

Faye was born on December 19, 1935, in Pageland, South Carolina. She graduated from Pageland High School in 1953. She later moved to Charlotte, North Carolina to live with her aunt and attend Kings Business College. She graduated from Kings Business College in 1957. After graduating from Kings, she was employed at Springs Industries in Lancaster, South Carolina for 35 years as a supervisor.

Faye was the beloved wife of the late Jimmy R. Griffin, and a cherished mother to her daughter Shannon Griffin of Pageland, South Carolina. She was the heart of her family, which included her predeceased brothers Floyd E. Gordon, Ray Gordon, and James T. Hunter and sisters Lois Kee, Alice Carnes, Ethel Mae Kee, and Mary Gordon. Faye also held a special place in her heart for her "daughters of the heart," Lisa Baker and Norena Watts, special caretaker and friend, Kaye Jenkins, as well as special nieces, Ann Catoe and Jan Jenkins, all of whom reside in Pageland. Her life was further enriched by numerous nieces and nephews who will remember her fondly.

A pillar of her community, Faye was deeply involved in her church, where she served as Sunday school teacher, pianist, and WMU Director. She contributed her time and talents to several church committees, always ensuring that her spiritual family was nurtured and supported. Her commitment to her faith was evident in every aspect of her life, as she lived out her beliefs with grace and dedication.

Those who knew Faye will recall her impeccable sense of style and the care she took in her appearance. She always had to "put on her lipstick" and earrings. She loved "going out to eat," shopping at her favorite store, Hamrick's, and traveling to the beach. Later in life, Faye most of all loved "going to ride" with her daughter.

Faye was a natural caretaker, always putting the needs of her family before her own. Her giving heart was a source of comfort and strength to many, and her home was a haven of hospitality and warmth.
