Genne Lee "Gent" Deese, 86, of Pageland, SC passed away peacefully on February 22, 2024 in his hometown of Pageland, South Carolina. He was born on December 14, 1937 to the late Charlie Deese and Annie Frances Robertson.
Gent's journey began in Pageland, where he was raised and later met the love of his life, Dianne Hartis Deese. Together, they built a life filled with love and devotion, not only to each other but to their cherished family. Genne was predeceased by his son, Randy Gene Deese; brothers, Gerald Deese, Bill Robinson and Pete Deese; sisters, Frances Hilton and Eunice Roberts and his parents. His legacy continues through his beloved wife, Dianne of Pageland, SC; daughter, Lynn Albertson (Kenny) of Marshville, NC; son, Ricky Lee Deese (Lorie) of Mt. Croghan, SC and sisters, Annie Mae Faulkenberry of Kershaw, SC and Shirley Griffin of Pageland, SC. His memory will also be treasured by his grandchildren, Johnathan Albertson (Jadda), Erica O'Neal (Taylor), Nick Deese (Demi) and Brittany Wright Funderburk (Demond); as well as his adored great-grandchildren, Carleigh Wright, Mason Albertson, Logan O'Neal, Mia Funderburk, Tully Deese and two on the way; numerous nieces, nephews and special friends and especially, Benny Sullivan and his family.
Gent's work ethic was unparalleled. He dedicated 33 years to Springs, followed by 15 years at the Chesterfield Yarn Mill, as a truck driver. Despite his busy work life, Gent found his true calling in serving the Lord. For 32 years, he was a devoted Deacon at Oak Street Baptist Church, where his faith-filled spirit touched the lives of many. His commitment to his faith and his congregation was evident in everything he did.
Gent's life was a beautiful reflection of his values. He was a pillar in his community, a loving husband, a caring father, and a doting grandfather. His guidance and love shaped the lives of his family, and his legacy of kindness will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to have been a part of his life.
