Helen Gibson Shaw, 81, of Pageland, SC passed away on March 9, 2024 in Pageland, South Carolina surrounded by her loving family.
Born on October 11, 1942 in Union County, North Carolina, Helen's life was a testament to her loving, thoughtful, and passionate nature. She is predeceased by her devoted husband, Ernest Shaw; her parents, James Coyte Gibson and Eula Price and her sisters, Mary Knight, Martha Garrison and Bessie Knight.
Helen's memory will be treasured by those she leaves behind. Her legacy continues through her son, Chucky Shaw and his wife Janet of Pageland, SC; her daughter, Cathy Parker of Monroe, NC; her adoring grandchildren, Sandi Shaw, Toby Shaw, Austin Shaw, and Hannah Tyson (Kelly), and her cherished great-grandchildren, Tyler Arrowood, Dylan Arrowood, Harleigh Jarrell, Hayleigh Jarrell, Maddie Tyson, and Rachel Tyson. Helen's step-grandchildren, James and Katie Palo, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, will also hold her close in their hearts. Her special friends, Jeff and Sherry Snipes of Pageland, SC, and her beloved fur babies, Hurricane and Blue, will miss her dearly.
Helen's love for her family was the cornerstone of her life. She found immense joy in spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whose lives she influenced with her warmth and wisdom. Her presence at family gatherings will be deeply missed, but the memories created will be cherished forever. An avid fan of country music, Helen's love for the tunes of George Jones and Gospel music filled her home with melody and her heart with happiness. Her faith was an essential part of who she was, and she cherished the bonds formed with her church friends. Helen's zest for life was evident in her simple pleasures. She enjoyed shopping, with Walmart being her favorite destination for finding everything she needed and more. Wendy's held a special place in her heart as her preferred spot to dine, a testament to her enjoyment of life's simple joys. A woman of routine and comfort, Helen liked to sit on her front porch, sipping coffee and chewing tobacco, a pastime that reflected her down-to-earth personality. Her laughter and stories will be missed by all who had the pleasure of sitting beside her during those cherished moments. Professionally, Helen took pride in maintaining a clean and welcoming environment, dedicating her time to cleaning doctors' offices.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 13, 2024 from 1:30 PM to 3:00 PM at Pageland Rose of the Nazarene Church.
There will be a Celebration of Life Funeral Service on Wednesday, March 13, 2024 at 3:00 PM at Pageland Rose of the Nazarene Church with Pastor Scott Gibson and Pastor Frank Alexander officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Gentiva Hospice, 205 East Main Street, Chesterfield, SC 29709 or to the American Cancer Society via their website, www.cancer.org.
Arrangements are entrusted to Baumgartner Funeral Home (www.baumgartnerfh.com) of Pageland, South Carolina.
