Jean Hicks Pierce, 90, of Charlotte, NC passed away Sunday, May 7, 2023 at Novant Health Presbyterian Hospital, Charlotte, North Carolina. Mrs. Pierce was born December 9, 1932 in Pageland, SC to the late Alonzo Leoria "Lonnie" Hicks Sr. and Kate Rogers Hicks. Mrs. Pierce attended the Pageland schools and was employed by Grace Bleachery in Lancaster, SC. Once she became a mother, she devoted herself to her family. She was a very protective and loving mother. Over the years, she enjoyed working in the vegetable garden, doing puzzles of all types, and reading novels. She loved listening to country music and spending time with her two children. Mrs. Pierce was a terrific cook, using recipes handed down from her mother. Mrs. Pierce was preceded by her husband of forty-six years, Ray Pierce; her parents and four siblings. Mrs. Pierce is survived by her daughter, Debra Pierce Cox (David) of Matthews, NC; son, Jonathan Pierce of Charlotte, NC. A private Graveside Service will be held on Thursday, May 11, 2023 at First Baptist Church of Pageland Cemetery in Pageland, South Carolina. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later time in Charlotte, North Carolina. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.
