Obituary

Jeffery Deane Laney, 62, of Jefferson, SC, passed away peacefully on January 16, 2024, in his hometown of Monroe, North Carolina. Born on September 21, 1961, to Denver Holland Laney and Wendell Rae Griffin Laney, Jeffery's life was a testament to the enduring power of love and family.

A devoted son, father, brother, and grandfather, Jeffery was predeceased by his beloved wife, Linda Cox Laney, his father, Denver, and his daughter, Tonya Denise Laney. His spirit lives on through his mother, Wendell Rae Griffin Laney of Monroe, NC; his sons, Scotty Laney of Fort Mill, SC, Paul Cox (Melissa) of Jefferson, SC and Jeff Cox (Renea) of Monroe, NC; his special daughter, Cheyenne Cox (Cody) of Aberdeen, NC; his brother, Tony Laney (Tammy) of Monroe, NC; his cherished grandchildren, Braxton Cox, David Cox, Jazmyn Cox, Bryce Cox, and Brandon Steele; his special aunt, Bonnie Hobbs of Monroe, NC; his loving niece, Tiffany Laney of Monroe, NC; and his adored dogs, Little Bit, Macey, Jazz, Lucy, Cornbread, Big Dave, Prince, Queenie, Boo Boo, Lady Bird, Billie Bob, Maryann, and his guinea, Boss.

For over two decades, Jeffery dedicated his professional life to Walmart as a forklift operator. His commitment to his work was matched only by his dedication to his family and his passion for life. Jeffery's home was a beacon of joy, especially during the Christmas season, which he and Linda would celebrate with exuberant decorations, lighting up not just their home but also the hearts of all who passed by.

Jeffery's love for his animals was unparalleled. He took great pride in his yard, creating a sanctuary not just for his family but also for his beloved pets. His home was a reflection of the love he had for Linda and the life they built together. Jeffery enjoyed the thrill of racing and wrestling, and he was an avid fan of Dale Earnhardt. His sense of style was unmistakable, often seen sporting his cowboy boots and hats, and he took great pride in his hair.
