Jeremy Ray Johnson, affectionaly known as "Gasman", passed away on June 15, 2026, in Pageland, South Carolina, while surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on September 11, 1974, in Monroe, North Carolina to Roger and Debbie Johnson. He lived a life by faith, service, and devotion to the people he loved. Jeremy was a man whose presence could fill a room, and he will be remembered for his funny spirit, adventurous nature, and steadfast faith.
Jeremy served with Pageland Fire and Pageland Rescue for eight years and served as Chaplain, and he was the highest call runner for multiple years. His commitment to helping others reflected the heart of a true servant, and he answered that calling with courage and dedication. For seven years, Jeremy also served as Pastor at Back to Bethel, where he shared his faith and encouraged others through his words and example. He loved spending time on "Visitation." Jeremy enjoyed hunting and fishing, and he treasured the simple pleasures of life, especially the time spent outdoors and the moments shared with family and friends. He was happiest when surrounded by the people he loved, and he made every gathering brighter with his humor and his easygoing way. His adventurous spirit and love for life will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Maebelle Johnson. He is survived by his loving wife, Heather Johnson; his parents, Roger and Debbie Johnson; his son, Jeremy Caleb "Bubba" Johnson of New Salem, North Carolina; his daughter, Kimberly Brooke Presley and her husband Justin of New Salem, North Carolina; his brothers, Kevin Johnson and his wife Kiescha of Heath Springs, South Carolina, and Travis Johnson and his wife Teresa of Monroe, North Carolina; his grandchildren, Kendall Presley and Marlee Presley; his nieces, Kirsten Johnson and Hailey Johnson; his nephews, Sam Johnson, Ryan Johnson, and Austin Johnson; and his honorary brother, Ryan Courtney.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, June 20, 2026 from 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM at Back to Bethel Baptist Church, 3606 Sanford Lane, Monroe, NC 28112.
A Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2026 at 4:00 PM at Back to Bethel Baptist Church with Pastor Kevin Johnson officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Back to Bethel Baptist Church, 3606 Sanford Lane, Monroe, NC 28112.
Arrangements are entrusted to Baumgartner Funeral Home (www.baumgartnerfh.com) of Pageland, South Carolina.
