Obituary

Johnny Ray Humphries, 66, of Lancaster, SC passed away on January 17, 2026 in Lancaster, South Carolina. Johnny was born on December 15, 1959 in South Carolina to the late Perry Humphries and Beulah Threatt Humphries.

Johnny grew up in Lancaster, where he formed an unbreakable bond with his siblings. He was predeceased by his brothers, James Edward, Robert Franklin, and Donald Perry Humphries and his sister, Peggy Sue Williams. He is survived by his son, Michael Humphries (Amanda) and his daughter, Samantha "Sam" Humphries both of Lancaster, SC, his brother, Carl Douglas Humphries, along with sisters, Mary Ellen Robertson, Darlene Phillips (Greg), Jackie Boyd all of Lancaster, SC and Betty Weaver of Myrtle Beach, SC.

A proud US Army veteran, Johnny served his country with honor and distinction on guard duty in Iraq and Kuwait. His dedication to service was a defining aspect of his character, one that earned him the respect and admiration of all who knew him.

Johnny's life was enriched by his seven grandchildren, Mallory, Liz, Eli, JD, Trent, Noah, and Holly. Each of them brought immense joy and pride to his life, and he cherished every moment spent with them. His love for his grandchildren was as boundless as his passion for life's simple pleasures.

An avid sports fan, Johnny could often be found cheering on his favorite NASCAR drivers, wrestling heroes, and football teams. These pastimes were more than hobbies; they were a way for him to connect with friends, share stories, and create lasting memories.
