Obituary

Joseph M. Yarborough, 87, of Pageland, SC passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on Saturday, January 9th, 2021. J.M. was born on December 20th, 1933 in Monroe, NC to the late Joseph Malcolm Yarbrough Sr. and Viola Hicks Yarbrough. He was always an avid outdoors man, who enjoyed hunting, fishing and raising/training pointer dogs. He was an active Licensed Amateur Radio Operator and enjoyed making contacts all over the world, especially with Morse Code working every U.S. county and over 150 different countries. He enjoyed building and flying radio controlled model planes; as well as, helping new flyers become more proficient in their flying skills. He never met a stranger and was always ready to assist with any problem someone may have with his mastery of the many talents and abilities he had. He proudly served in the U.S. Army as a Military Police Officer. He retired from industrial maintenance working for Springs Industries in Lancaster SC. His family and friends were his greatest loves. He is predeceased by his brother, Ward Yarborough and sisters, Betty Knight and Jewel Yarborough. J.M. is survived by his wife, Betty JoAnne Yarborough of Pageland, SC; son, Mike Yarborough of Pageland, SC; sister, Sara Yarborough Deese of Sumter, SC, along with several nieces, nephews and cousins. He loved his God and accepted Jesus Christ as his savior and redeemer many years ago and continued to renew his faith constantly. Dad requested in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the charity of one's choice and that each of us reaffirm our faith in God and to pray for our Country and this world amid all the strife that we are facing. Private Cremation arrangements as per family request. We especially want to thank the Agape Hospice team that took such wonderful and compassionate care of not only Dad but Mom and I as well. Much love and thanks also to Mom and Dad's home caregivers Angie Restivo and Kim Tapp for going above and beyond to see to their every need and treat them as their own family. They are such a blessing to have and be able to depend on to take care of all of us. Baumgartner Funeral Home of Pageland, SC (www.baumgartnerfh.com ) is assisting the Yarborough family.
