Mrs. Judy Laney Melton, 68, of Pageland, SC passed away on Thursday, October 7, 2021 in Hartsville, South Carolina. Mrs. Melton was born on June 20, 1953 in, Monroe, North Carolina to the late Clyde Laney and Evelyn Plyler Laney. Mrs. Melton was a member of Dudley Baptist Church, where she was the Treasurer for the Adult Sunday School Class. She served on the Planning Committee and was Chairlady of the Benevolence and Bereavement Committees. Judy volunteered to send cards from the church to people who was sick or needed an encouraging word. Mrs. Melton enjoyed cooking and trying new things. In the summer, she enjoyed gardening and canning. She loved traveling to different places to go camping. Mrs.Melton looked forward to spending time with her four legged companions. She is preceded in death by her brother, Earl Laney and sisters, Wanda Laney Cleveland and Sadie Carnes. Mrs. Melton is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Larry R. Melton of Pageland, SC; son, Mikey R. Melton of Pageland, SC; brothers, J.T. Laney of Pageland, SC, Donnie Laney of Locust, NC and Bruce Laney of Pageland, SC; sisters, Kay Laney Davis of Charlotte, NC and Diane and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be on Monday, October 11, 2021 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Baumgartner Funeral Home, 708 West McGregor Street, Pageland, SC 29728. A Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, October 12, 2021 at Dudley Baptist Church with Pastor Jerry Haney officiating. The burial will follow at Dudley Baptist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Dudley Baptist Church, c/o Whitney Brock, 326 Jenkins Road, Pageland, SC 29728.
