Mr. Kevin Burke Mills, 48, of Pageland, SC passed away unexpectedly on May 21, 2022. Mr. Mills was born on March 11, 1974 in Monroe, NC to Henretta Threatt Mills and the late Archie Marlin Mills, Sr. He is preceded in death by his brother, Darron Scott Mills and sister, Yana Mills Plyler. As a Mills, operating heavy equipment was ingrained in Kevin. He learned from the best- his father, the late Marlin Mills. He consistently perfected his craft procuring and renewing his national certification as a crane operator from the National Commission for the Certification of Crane Operators. Known for having a heart for others in his field, he generously helped those in whom he saw the same talents. He was quick to offer a place to rest for newcomers and enjoyed seeing their success. His willingness to lend a hand was widely known and appreciated in his circle. His co-workers were quick to remember Kevin as a man with a giving heart and vibrant personality. He was never above anyone and would make you feel like the most important person in the world because of his genuine conversation. Kevin was much to many. He grew up proud of his country roots and loved hanging out with family and friends. Whether being called "Cheese" by his friends or "Uncle Cheese" by his adoring nieces and nephews (including great nieces and nephews), his smile and captivating hazel eyes offered comfort and assurance to those who knew him best. Memories with his siblings and cousins will last a lifetime or two as Kevin loved family gatherings, especially Christmas. He loved to shop and shopped well in advance to find gifts for those he cherished. He was readily available for hugs and conversation and always had fun stories to share. Recently, Kevin wanted to find a good little country church to get back into. He spoke with family about his beliefs, and if he could speak now, we are sure he would say the Lord is real, and He wants to know you in a personal way. While flawed as we all are, we cling to the hope and promise that Kevin is in Heaven, reunited with those who went before him, because he believed in Jesus as the Son of God. We trust in the reunion we will all have with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Mr. Mills is survived by his mother, Henretta Threatt Mills of Pageland, SC; beloved daughter, Santana; brothers, Archie Marlin Mills, Jr. (Dawn) of Pageland, SC and Jonathan Mills of Pageland, SC; sister, Phoebe Mayberry (Leon) of Indian Trail, NC; nieces and nephews, Brittany Reeves (Will), Kadie Plyler, Maleah Mills, Marlin Mills III, Cooper Mills, Taylor Mills (Sapan), Elizabeth Mills, Scott Mayberry and Garrett Mayberry and great nieces and nephews, Liam Reeves, Holden Reeves, Emma Reeves, Zayn Patel and Owen Sistare. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 25, 2022 from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM at Baumgartner Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, May 26, 2022 at Baumgartner Funeral Home with Rev. Michael Madaris officiating. The burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park of Pageland. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.
