Linda Hendrick
Pigg
Jan 21, 1943 — Dec 8, 2025
Mrs. Linda Hendrick Pigg, 82, of Jefferson passed away at home on Monday, December 8, 2025.
Linda was born on January 21, 1943 in Monroe to the late Earl Hubert and Edythe Middleton Hendrick. Linda graduated from Jefferson High School in 1961 and went on to attend McLeod's School of Nursing in Florence, SC where she received an excellent education and also made many wonderful lifelong friends. Linda graduated from McLeod's in 1964 as a registered nurse and returned to Jefferson to begin her career. Linda worked as a nurse for 45 years, first at Atrium Union (at that time Union Memorial Hospital) and then at the Smith Building which went on to become the Jesse Helm Center. Through her work as an RN Linda met the love of her life, Jimmy, when she cared for him after he broke his leg while water skiing in 1974.
Linda devoted her life to the care of others; her patients, her husband, her two daughters Natalie and Julie, her extended family, and her friends. She was often considered the "town nurse" and was frequently called upon to give medical advice and was always willing to lend a helping hand when needed. Linda was an avid gardener and took great pride in caring for her yard and cultivating beautiful flowers. She was also one of the rare individuals who loved to mow with a push lawn mower. Linda loved decorating her home for all of the various holidays, with fall and Thanksgiving being her favorite, as she took pride in hosting Thanksgiving dinner for her husband's family for many years. Linda adored spending time with her husband, daughters, and grandsons and treasured the many trips she took in the family camper to the beach and mountains.
Linda was a lifelong, faithful member of Jefferson Presbyterian Church where she had served as a Sunday School and Vacation Bible School teacher in years past. She will be remembered as a woman with strong convictions who loved her family fiercely.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 45 years Jimmy, and a sister, Jill Adams.
Linda is survived her daughters, Julie Pigg of Jefferson, SC and Natalie Mayhew (Cory) of Cornelius, NC; sisters, Rita Rollings of Lancaster, SC, and Melonie Griffin (Keith) of Pageland, SC; and her beloved grandsons, Cameron, Logan, Everett, and Barrett.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday, December 11, 2025 at 3:00 PM at Jefferson Presbyterian Church in Jefferson, SC with Pastor David Bessinger officiating. Burial will follow at Jefferson Town Cemetery in Jefferson, SC. The family will receive friends at the family home on Wednesday, December 10, 2025 from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Linda's memory may be made to Jefferson Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 278, Jefferson, SC 29718.
Arrangements are entrusted to Baumgartner Funeral Home (www.baumgartnerfh.com) of Pageland, South Carolina.
