Mr. Luke Haskell Raley, 80, of Jefferson, South Carolina passed away on Friday, August 3, 2018 at CHS-Union. Haskell was born on June 14, 1938 in Camden, South Carolina to the late Luke Raley and Thelma Newman Raley. He later met and united in marriage to Marie Taylor Raley. After graduating in the Class of 1957 from Camden High School, Haskell began his career in the grocery business for more than 60 years. He also served his country in the National Guard for 9 years. During those years he was part owner of the IGA in Pageland, where he met and developed many friendships. He also enjoyed when parents would bring their children into the store so he could spoil them while they shopped. Haskell's biggest joy in life was getting to spend time with his family and friends. Haskell attended Providence Baptist Church where he and Marie are members. Haskell had an affinity for working in his yard. In addition to his parents, Haskell is preceded in death by his sister, Betty Lou Barnes. Those left to celebrate and remember his life include his loving wife of 61 years, Marie Taylor Raley of Jefferson, South Carolina; son, Brian H. Raley (Mona) of Camden, South Carolina; daughters, Karen Raley Mills of Lugoff, South Carolina and Rhonda Raley Miles (Wesley) of Jefferson, South Carolina; sister, Louine Raley Wilson of Camden, South Carolina; five grandchildren, Dustin Raley (Avery) of Goose Creek, South Carolina, Raley Mills Jackson (Brooks) of Camden, South Carolina, Natalie Mills of Lugoff, South Carolina, Avery Miles and Jamison Miles both of Jefferson, South Carolina; also three great-grandchildren, Presley Jackson of Camden, South Carolina, Elliotte Raley and Bowen Raley both of Goose Creek, South Carolina. A Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, August 6, 2018 at Providence Baptist Church with Dr. Roger Wall officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Camden, South Carolina. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Sunday, August 5, 2018 in the Sanctuary of Providence Baptist Church, 232 Providence Church Road, Pageland, South Carolina 29728.
