Mabel Watts Airington, 83, a cherished mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on November 25, 2023, in her hometown of Pageland, SC. Born to the late Dudley Boyd Watts and Annie Sutton Watts on March 16, 1940, Mabel was a shining example of kindness, faith, and love. Mabel was predeceased by her beloved husband, Walter J. Airington, and her brothers, Tommy, Jack and Bill Watts.
Her spirit is carried on by her devoted children, Mitchell Boyd Airington (Letishia Camp) and Walter Harold Airington both of Pageland, SC, and Ann Airington Funderburk (Chuck) of Pageland, SC. Her legacy will continue to thrive through her ten grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren, who will forever cherish their memories with her.
In her professional life, Mabel was a dedicated machine operator in the garment manufacturing industry. Mabel was a long-standing member of Smyrna Baptist Church in Pageland, SC. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life and she expressed it beautifully through music, playing the piano with grace and passion at both Oak Street Baptist Church and Smyrna Baptist Church and her love for prison ministry. Her love for her family was immeasurable. She cherished every moment spent with them, whether it was at large family gatherings where she showcased her love for cooking, or in quieter moments, sharing stories and creating memories. Mabel also had a fondness for travel, seizing every opportunity to discover new places. Mabel had a particular fondness for watching Westerns on television. Mabel Watts Airington was a beacon of kindness, her faith was unwavering, and her love for her family was boundless.
There will be a Celebration of Life Graveside Service on Tuesday, November 28, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Greenlawn Memorial Park of Pageland with Rev. Rick Stancil and Rev. Ricky Welch officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Gentiva Hospice, 205 East Main Street, Chesterfield, SC 29709.
Arrangements are entrusted to Baumgartner Funeral Home of Pageland, SC.
