Margaret Jean "Joe" Hutchens, of Jefferson, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on December 13, 2024, at the age of 92 in Lancaster, South Carolina. Born on April 12, 1932 in Wise, Virginia to the late John Strouth and Mary Lacy Hardy Strouth. She is preceded in death by her sons, Marvin Lee Hutchens, Sr. and Gary Dean Hutchens; her daughter, Geona Jean Hutchens; grandson, Brad; granddaughter Tonya

and great-grandson, Matthew and thirteen siblings.

She is survived by her daughter, Dianna Hutchens of Jefferson, SC, sister to Earlene, Elmo "Peggy," and Louise. Margaret's life was rich with the laughter of her nine grandchildren, the wonder of her thirteen great-grandchildren, and the promise of her ten great-great-grandchildren.

Known for her playful spirit, Margaret was the life of any gathering. Her hands were rarely still, as she found joy in quilting and was an avid bingo player when she was able. Her grandbabies were her pride and joy, and she cherished every moment spent with them. Margaret's love for dancing and her skill as a poker player were just a few of the many ways she brought smiles to the faces of those around her.
