Obituary

Margie H. Deegan, 97, of Pageland, SC, passed peacefully on December 8, 2025, in Hartsville, SC. Margie was born on May 20, 1928, in Pageland, SC, to the late Joe B. Hendrix and Willie Outen Hendrix.

Margie's journey through life was one of companionship and love, notably with her late husband, James Robert Deegan, who predeceased her. Her spirit was further nurtured by her siblings, and though she was preceded in death by her sister Bett Hendrix Johns and her brother-in-law Bill L. Johns, as well as her nephew Lovia L. Johns, her bond with her family remained unbreakable.

Margie is survived by her brother, Daniel Huey Hendrix of Pageland, SC, her niece Wanda Davis (James "Cookie") of Myrtle Beach, SC, and her nephew Joseph Daniel Hendrix (Lisa) of Lancaster, SC, and along with her four great-nieces and nephews.

Margie's hands were rarely still, as she found joy and purpose in needlework and quilting. Her creations were not only beautiful but also a testament to her patience and attention to detail. She enjoyed playing golf with the ladies. Margie's zest for life extended to her love of shopping, where she found pleasure in the simple act of selecting gifts for her loved ones.

Her home was a place of welcome, often filled with the laughter of family and the contented presence of her beloved dog, Zoie. Margie's faith was the cornerstone of her existence, and she was a gentle force, encouraging the younger generation to embrace the church and its community.
