Obituary

Mrs. Margie Autry Evans, 86, of Pageland, South Carolina passed away on Saturday, December 30, 2017. Margie was born on November 12, 1931 in Marshville, North Carolina to the late Charlie Autry and Lovetta Taylor Autry. She later met and united in marriage to the late Billy Evans. Margie assisted her husband in the Watermelon Business, as well as, being the owner and operator of Evans Grocery. She also worked as a seamstress for many years. Margie was always on the go, but when she was home she loved to talk on the telephone and watch TV. In her free time, she enjoyed crocheting, needlepoint, and cross stitch. She was also a very good record keeper. She also enjoyed cheering for her Carolina Panthers in which she was an avid fan. Margie loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a faithful and lifelong member of Philadelphia Baptist Church where she held numerous positions throughout the years there, including the historian of the church. Margie loved her Lord and her church family dearly, they always held a special place in her heart. Those left to celebrate and remember her life include her loving daughters, Peggy Smith (Butch) of Marshville, North Carolina, Deborah Sullivan (Donald) of Pageland, South Carolina, and Teresa Eudy (Tony) of Marshville, North Carolina; sisters, Dale Evans (Marvin) of Marshville, North Carolina, Loree Evans (Max) of Pageland, South Carolina, Lavonne Floyd (Paul) of Marshville, North Carolina, and Bonnie Newland of Marshville, North Carolina; six grandchildren, Michelle Simpson, Kelly Baker, Jonathan Mills, Meghan Threatt, Michael Sullivan and Jennifer Helms; four step-grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; special friend, Sam Funderburk Sr.; also numerous nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at Philadelphia Baptist Church with Pastor Carroll Anthony officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Monday, January 1, 2018 at Baumgartner Funeral Home, 708 West McGregor Street, Pageland, South Carolina 29728. In lieu of flowers, memorials made be made to Philadelphia Baptist Church, c/o Building Fund, 5709 Philadelphia Church Road, Marshville, North Carolina 28103.
