Obituary

Margie Oliver Kirkley, 80, of Pageland, SC passed away peacefully on January 21, 2025 in Charlotte, North Carolina. She was born on April 23, 1944 in Jefferson, South Carolina to the late J. T. Oliver and Ola Demby Oliver. She is predeceased by her husband, Robert M. Kirkley; daughter, Susan Allen; brothers, Wayne Oliver, Donnie Oliver, Johnny Oliver, Jay D. Oliver and Winford Oliver.

Margie's life was a testament to her loving nature and her unwavering dedication to her family and community.

Margie's family was the cornerstone of her life, and she is survived by her devoted son, Rev. Rodney Kirkley (Kim) of Jefferson, SC; her loving daughters, Sandra Arant (Roger) of Pageland, SC and Karen Caulder (Tim) of Chesterfield, SC; her caring son-in-law, DeWayne Allen of Chesterfield, SC; her supportive brothers, Gene Oliver (Donna) and J.T. Oliver, Jr. (Vickie) both of Jefferson, SC; and her dear sister, Onita Griggs (Rev. William) of Ruby, SC. Margie's joy was multiplied by her adoring grandchildren, Adam Arant (Tiffany), Samantha Sessions, Amelia Arant Johnson (Brian), Lindsay Caulder, Hunter Caulder, Makayla Kirkley, Mikel Kirkley, and Kelsey Allen, as well as her precious great-grandchildren, Isabella Sessions, Olivia Sessions, Addison Sessions, Hanna Arant, Emily Arant, and Noah Arant.

Margie's professional life was spent at Cato Knit, where she worked diligently and formed lasting friendships. Her colleagues will remember her as a dedicated and hardworking individual who brought a sense of camaraderie to the workplace. Beyond her professional endeavors, Margie was actively involved in her community, always ready to lend a helping hand and support those in need.

Margie's interests and hobbies were a reflection of her zest for life and love for her family. She was a culinary enthusiast who enjoyed cooking for her loved ones, and an adventurer at heart who cherished her travels to the beach and mountains. She would always visit and bring food to families that lost a loved one. Dining out at her favorite fish camp was one of her simple pleasures, as was her admiration for Elvis Presley. Margie's passion for farming alongside her husband was evident in her quest for the largest watermelon in the field, and her shopping excursions were always a joyous event. Anytime you saw Melvin you saw her.

Above all, Margie was a caregiver through and through. She selflessly cared for her sister-in-laws, Nancy and Betty Sue, and her nurturing spirit extended to everyone around her. Her grandchildren were the light of her life, and she cherished every moment spent with them, creating memories that will be treasured forever.
