Martha Jane Smith, of Pageland, SC passed away peacefully on May 16, 2025, at the age of 85 in Monroe, North Carolina. Martha was born on June 5, 1939, in Pageland, South Carolina, to the late Ben Smith and Minnie Nicholson Smith. She is also predeceased by her son, Richard Smith, brothers, Mozell Smith, Junior Smith and Tim Smith; sister, Catherine Smith and grandson, Zackery O'Neil Robinson.
She was a beacon of light in her community, always ready with a kind word and a helping hand. Her warmth and generosity extended not only to her human companions but also to her cherished cats, who were a constant source of joy and comfort throughout her life.
Martha's passion for life was evident in her simple pleasures. She found great enjoyment in working on puzzle books, which provided her with hours of quiet contentment and a sense of accomplishment. Her love for the television show "Family Feud" was well-known among her loved ones, as she rarely missed an episode, often sharing laughter and playful banter with anyone who would join her.
Martha's special love for her family was the cornerstone of her existence. She was a devoted mother to her sons, Matthew Smith of Pageland, SC, Reggie Smith (Sheena Chanel) of St. Augustine, FL, and Sandy Smith of Pageland, SC. Her role as a grandmother to Marie Smith and Dominique Smith was one she cherished deeply, and the memories created with them will be treasured forever. Martha's sister, Berdell Smith of Pageland, SC, along with special nephews, Randy Smith and Andy Smith and numerous other nieces and nephews, will remember her as a guiding light and a source of unwavering support.
Martha's legacy is one of kindness, companionship and an enduring love that touched the lives of everyone she met. Her presence will be profoundly missed, but the impact she made on the world will continue to resonate.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Wednesday, May 2l, 2025 at Baumgartner Funeral Home, Pageland, SC.
There will be a Celebration of Life Graveside Service on Thursday, May 22, 2025 at 3:00 PM at Greenlawn Memorial Park of Pageland. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park of Pageland.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Gentiva Hospice, 205 East Main Street, Chesterfield, SC 29709.
