Mr. Marvin Gleen Evans, 87, of Marshville, North Carolina passed away on Sunday, December 9, 2018 at CHS-Union surrounded by his loving family. Marvin was born on September 27, 1931 in Charlotte, North Carolina to the late Roy Thomas Evans and Eva Griffin Evans. He later met and united in marriage to Dale Autry Evans. Throughout his life, Marvin was a part of many organizations including the Chesterfield County Cancer Support Group where he served as a past president, the Union County Cancer Support Group where he served as vice president, a member of the North Carolina Union County Farm Bureau Board of Directors, as well as, being a member of the Shriners and the Masons for fifty years. Marvin was also a faithful member of Philadelphia Baptist Church where he attended the Senior Sunday School Class and served on various committees. Although Marvin stayed relatively busy helping in the community, he always found the time to travel and spend time with his family to whom he loved dearly. In addition to his parents, Marvin is preceded in death by his brothers, W.L. Evans, Alphaeus Evans, R.T. Evans, Everette Evans, Charles Evans and sister, Geraldine Atkinson. Those left to celebrate and remember his life include his loving wife of 65 years, Dale Autry Evans of Marshville, North Carolina; daughter, Deneice Hendrick (Billy) of Marshville, North Carolina; granddaughter, Erin Hendrick Felt (Brooks) of Marshville, North Carolina; grandson, Blair Hendrick (Kristen) of Marshville, North Carolina; also three great-grandchildren, Harper Felt, Heidi Hendrick, and Harrison Hendrick all of Marshville, North Carolina. The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday, December 12, 2018 in the Sanctuary of Philadelphia Baptist Church, 5709 Philadelphia Church Road, Marshville, North Carolina 28103. A Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, December 13, 2018 at Philadelphia Baptist Church with Pastor Caroll Anthony and Dr. Roger Wall Officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Masonic Rites. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to Philadelphia Baptist Church, c/o Building Fund, 5709 Philadelphia Church Road, Marshville, North Carolina 28103.
