Mary Jane
Neisler
Jun 5, 1936 — Jun 28, 2025
Mary Jane Neisler, 89, of Mt. Croghan, SC passed away peacefully on June 28, 2025 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on June 5, 1936 in Shelby, North Carolina to the late Claude Hoke Thompson Sr. and Marion Harrell Thompson.
Jane's life was one of devotion and joy. She was a beloved wife to her husband, Hugh M. Neisler, Sr. with whom she shared 69 years of cherished memories. Together, they built a family that included their son, Miller Neisler and his wife, Jean of Pageland, SC and their daughter, Pauline Neisler and her partner, Elizabeth Stout of Chapin, SC. Jane's warmth and humor extended to her sister, Ann McCutchan of Chapel Hill, NC, her grandson, Ryan William Neisler and his fiancée, Michele Araujo of Lincolnton, NC, as well as her step-grandchildren, Wesley Catoe and his wife Kat of Lugoff, SC and Gerald Catoe of Pageland, SC. She was also a proud step-great-grandmother to six step-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her brother, Claude Hoke Thompson, Jr.
Jane's zest for life was evident in her many interests and hobbies. She found joy in shopping trips with her daughter-in-law Jean and was an avid hunter, embracing the beauty of nature. Her skills as a ham radio operator, known by her call sign "Chickadee," connected her with people from all walks of life. A talented cook, Jane's zucchini bread was a family treasure, and her culinary delights will be fondly remembered by all who had the pleasure of tasting them.
Not only did Jane possess a variety of talents, but she also earned three belts in Karate, showcasing her determination and strength. Her love for animals shone brightly, especially in her affection for dogs. Jane's nimble fingers created warmth and beauty through her knitting and crocheting, gifting her family with tangible memories of her love.
Jane's sense of humor was unmatched, and her laughter was a gift that brightened every room. She sang in the choir with a voice that was truly angelic and directed the youth choir with a passion that inspired many. Her presence was a joy to be around, and her ability to watch and appreciate the simple pleasures of bird watching spoke to her patient and observant nature.
The family will receive friends following the service in the fellowship hall.
