Mr. Matthew Jasper "Buddy" Powell, 90, of Pageland, SC passed away on Sunday, August 29, 2021 in Lancaster, SC. Mr. Powell was born on July 27, 1931 in Manning, SC. Mr. Powell served his country in the US Army and US Air Force. He retired from Springs Industries as a Clothing Inspector. He loved to sing and dance. He always liked to be around people and visit with them. He is predeceased by both his parents and brother, Jessie Powell. Matthew "Buddy" Powell is survived by his wife, Ida Sims Horne of Pageland, SC; sons, David Powell and Ernest Powell both of McConnells, SC; step-sons, Mark Horne (Chris) of Pageland, SC and James F. Horne Jr. (Mary) of Manning, SC; step-daughters, Margie Pierce of Hartsville, SC and Teresa Small (Donald) of Lancaster, SC; grandson, Matthew Powell of McConnells, SC; numerous step-grandchildren, step-great grandchildren and step-great great grandchildren. The family will hold a private memorial service on their own at a later date.
