Mr. George Lee Kirkley, 93, of Jefferson, SC went to be with his Lord on Thursday, February 6, 2014 while surrounded by his loving family and Hospice. Mr. George Lee Kirkley was born in Chesterfield County, SC to the late Thomas Richard and Lula Rollings Kirkley. Mr. Kirkley later united in marriage to Lola Johnson. He worked at the Grace Plant of Springs Industries for 29 years. Mr. Kirkley was a member of White Plains Baptist Church. He served as a Deacon since 1949 at Long Branch Baptist Church and White Plains Baptist Church. He also served in the US Army during World War II. Mr. Kirkley was a member of the American Legion and served as a County Commissioner. He is preceded in death by 4 Brothers, 1 Sister and 2 Granddaughters. Mr. Kirkley is survived by his Wife, Lola Johnson Kirkley of the home, Sons, Everette Kirkley of Jefferson, SC, Tom Kirkley of Lancaster, SC and Rev. Ken Kirkley (Rhonda) of Lyman, SC, Daughters, Ann Watts of Jefferson, SC and Faye Faulkenberry ( Julian) of Lancaster, SC, Many Nieces and Nephews, Nine Grandchildren, Twenty Six Great Grandchildren and Five Great Great Grandchildren. A Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, February 10, 2014 at White Plains Baptist Church. The burial will follow in the Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends following the Service in the Fellowship Hall.
