On May 31, 2015, Georgia Alice Moore Knight, 93, entered into heaven, having left an enormous impact on countless lives here on earth. Born October 2, 1921, Georgia was the last surviving sibling out of nine children born to the late Lela Pamela Wallace Moore and Eugene Jackson Moore.

The celebration of life service will be held at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, June 3, at Macedonia Baptist Church, 3870 Johnson Road, Jefferson, SC. Georgia will be buried in the church cemetery alongside her late husband, John Arthur Knight. Family and friends are invited to join the family for food and fellowship following the service in the church fellowship hall. Baumgartner Funeral Home, Pageland, SC, is in charge of the funeral arrangements.
Georgia was born in Pageland and was a resident of Chesterfield County her entire life. She graduated from Jefferson High School in 1940. She married John Arthur Knight, August 24, 1946, and they were married for 61 years until his passing in 2007.
We rejoice in the fullness of Georgia's life as a farmer's wife, homemaker, mother and caregiver. She always did more than her part and was passionate about serving others and making sure everyone was well cared for. In her mid-thirties, she started working as a seamstress for Sacony Dress Factory, where she worked for 29 years. After retiring, she worked retail part-time at the Sacony Outlet Store. In addition, she worked on an "as-needed" basis for Mama Clark Daycare for many years. Georgia was a very talented seamstress and clothing designer. She was a pro at making something beautiful and useful from whatever was available. She was an excellent cook, with her specialties being chicken and dumplings, chocolate pies, black walnut pound cakes, tea cakes and the list goes on and on. She was the ultimate caretaker of her family members from infancy on, and was the primary caretaker of her mother-in-law for several years. Georgia was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church from her early twenties until eternity.
Georgia is survived by daughters Lucy Margaret Eubanks (Garland) of Jefferson, and Lela La Rose Hays (Bob) of Cary, NC; three grandchildren, Pennie Eubanks Oliver (Scott), Jefferson, Timothy Hays, Louisburg, NC, and Tiffany Hays (Charlie), Arrington, TN. A source of joy and delight for Georgia and the entire family are two great grandsons, Seth Oliver and Riggs Hays, and "honorary" great grandson, Trey Murray. In addition to the immediate family, Georgia is survived by numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by nine siblings, sisters Lucy Pruitt and Jean Pruette; and brothers Perry Moore, Harold Moore, Carroll Moore, Earl Moore, Allen Moore, Graham Moore and special brother Johnny Pruitt.
Georgia's family is extremely grateful for the loving care given to her by very special caregiver and friend, Brenda Miller, Hospice of Union County and Brian Center Monroe.
In addition, the family will forever be grateful for the time and love extended by Mody and Jean Clark, and Barbara and Paul Knight, throughout Georgia's later years of life. The ongoing love and generosity of family and friends in the Angelus/Macedonia/Jefferson community is so greatly appreciated and so very comforting during sad times and times of need. We are all so very fortunate to be a part of the lifestyle created by our ancestors and carried on by all of us.
