Ms. Betty Camp Graves, 87. of Midlothian, Virginia died August 21st after a long stroke-related illness. Daughter of the former William Sterne and Bryte Brown Camp, she was born in Jefferson,SC. Betty was married to the former James Coit Graves of Pageland, SC on January 7, 1950 and they enjoyed 45 years of marriage until his death in 1995.
Having graduated with highest honors from Greenwood High School in Greenwood, Mississippi in 1944, Betty attended Converse College. She ran a private kindergarten in Pageland, SC prior to per marriage.
Former owners of Carolina Sporting Goods, Betty and Jim worked and raised their children in Sanford, NC. She devoted her life to her family, friends, church and caring for the elderly. Betty was predeceased by her Son, James Graves, Jr. formerly of Greensboro, NC, and survived by her Daughters, Elizabeth Graves Parker of Wake Forest, NC and Mary Graves Hedrick of Midlothian, VA, Two beloved Sons-In-Law, Jerry Parker and Greg Hedrick, Six Grandchildren, Allison Graves Kretlow, Ruth Graves Powell, Seth and James Parker, Hunter and Holly Hedrick and Two Great Grandchildren, Walker Graves and Darington Parker.
A Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be held at Huguenot Road Baptist Church in Midlothian, Virginia at 1:00 PM Saturday, August 24, 2013. The family will receive friends in the narthex of the church following the service.
There will be a Private Graveside Service at First Baptist Church in Pageland on Sunday, August 25, 2013.
