Nell Roland Funderburk, 97, of Pageland, SC passed away on May 2, 2026 in Lancaster, South Carolina while surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on January 29, 1929 in Lexington, South Carolina to the late Victor Andrew Roland and Artie Hook Roland. Nell was the youngest of seven siblings. Her life was marked by devotion to her loved ones, steadfast Christian faith, and a warm presence that brought comfort and joy to those around her. Nell was a devoted Christian. She was in church every time the doors opened, and her commitment to the Lord was evident in the way she lived each day.
She had many simple pleasures that brought her happiness. Nell loved to make pound cakes, and her kitchen was often filled with the comforting aroma of her baking. She enjoyed shopping, cooking, and spending time with her family. She also loved to travel, especially on Christian bus trips and cruises, and she delighted in trips to the mountains and the beach. Nell enjoyed all kinds of food, especially chocolate, and she especially loved watching the great grand boys play ball. These moments brought her great joy and created cherished memories for those who shared them with her.
Nell was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Patterson Funderburk and her granddaughter, Jennifer Funderburk. She was also preceded in death by her siblings, who were part of the large and loving family in which she was raised.
She is survived by her son, Wayne Funderburk and his wife, Ginger of Pageland, South Carolina; her daughter, Vickie Gulledge and her husband, Ronnie of Pageland, South Carolina; her grandchildren, Scott Gulledge and his wife, Elizabeth, Phillip Gulledge, and Stacy Olney and her husband, Ryan; her great-grandchildren, Megan Melton and her husband, Lucas, Owen Gulledge, Justin Gulledge, Abigail Gulledge, Logan Olney, Harlie Gulledge, and Henry Olney; her great-great-grandson, Wyatt Melton; and her daughters of the heart, Joyce Miles and Vivian Evans.
The family will receive friends on Monday, May 4, 2026 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Baumgartner Funeral Home in Pageland, SC.
There will be a Celebration of Life Funeral Service on Tuesday, May 5, 2026 at 12:00 PM at Liberty Hill Baptist Church with Pastor Mack Mullis officiating. Burial will follow at Liberty Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Liberty Hill Baptist Church, PO Box 309, Pageland, SC 29728.
