Funderburk
May 8, 1937 — Feb 2, 2026
Patricia (Pat) Smith Funderburk, 88, of Pageland, SC, passed away peacefully on February 2, 2026 in Monroe, NC.
She was born on May 8, 1937, in Pageland, SC, to the late Charles Bruner and Otis Missouri Smith. She was predeceased by her late husband, Jean Francis Funderburk, and two sons, Sterling Funderburk and Dan Funderburk. Also predeceased by her five sisters, Mary (Bill) Caston, Ruth (Bob) Freeman, Dorothy (Bill) Hendrick, Betty (George) Kennington, Frankie (Joe) Burch, and one brother, Charles (Dot) Smith.
She is survived by three sons, Stewart Funderburk, Kevin (Debbie) Funderburk, Eric (Nicole) Funderburk, as well as grandchildren, Christie (Brandon) Braswell, Hope Funderburk, Nathan Funderburk, Anna Claire Funderburk, Madison (Preston) Moseley, and Myles (Sarah) Guffey, as well as great grandchildren, Graycee Lewis, Tanner Lewis, Max and Dean Moseley, and Olive Guffey.
Pat earned her associates degree in Secretarial Science from University of South Carolina in Columbia, SC and worked for Dr. Griggs in Pageland, SC as a secretary until her youngest son Dan was born with Downs Syndrome, which led her to full time care of him for 24 years until his death. She was a member of Hope Family Worship Center in Pageland, SC, which she loved dearly.
Pat was deeply devoted to her family, which was evident in her sacrificial time spent in raising them in the fear and admonition of the Lord and His ways and love for them. She was an excellent cook all the way to just a few days before her death. In her earlier years, she was known for her beautiful singing voice at her church. A lady of many talents and gifts in artistic crafts. She loved working in her yard with flowers, and up until last Summer was still operating a zero turn mower that would rival most landscapers. All who knew her were blessed with her kindness and genuine concern for their wellbeing. She loved her sisters and brother and their children, and the highlight of her year was to be able to see all of their children. If grace had a face it would be hers. Above all, she cherished her relationship with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. A scripture that personifies her life would be, "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith." II Timothy 4:7 She overcame many hardships and trials, and has truly gone to her reward.
