Mr. Rance Morrison Griffin, 83, of Lancaster, SC went to be with his Lord on Sunday, December 25, 2016. Rance was born on October 31, 1933 in Cabarrus County, North Carolina to the late John Oscar Griffin and Paris Hunter Griffin. He later met and united in marriage to Peggy Laney Griffin, who precedes him in death. He enjoyed cooking, fishing, and hunting as well as riding his 4-wheeler. He was still gardening at age 80. Mr. Rance was known for his big heart. When someone would stop by to visit, he would make sure they would not leave empty handed. Everyone in the neighborhood knew Mr. Rance as Uncle Rance. He taught CNC programming at Anson Tech. He was a member at Spring Hill Baptist Church. Mr. Rance worked for Duff Norton in Charlotte and Wadesboro for 33 years and later retired. Mr. Rance worked 2 jobs and was a single dad raising his children due to the loss of his wife at a young age. He is preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Laney Griffin, 3 Brothers, Carson Griffin, Harold Griffin and Oscar Griffin, Sister, Frankie Deese and Daughter, Myra Lynn Griffin. Those left to celebrate and remember his life include his Sons, Rex Griffin (Emogene) of Lancaster, SC and Rhett Griffin (Sandra) of Lancaster, SC, Daughters, Cynthia Hayes (Donnie) of Pageland, SC and Tammy Barton (Steve) of Lancaster, SC, Sisters, Luna Ann Rollins, Roxie Williams and Nancy Funderburk all of Pageland, SC, Linda Wallace of Matthews, NC and Grandchildren, Shannon Allen, Cameron and Logan Griffin, Alisia Hayes Threatt, Candice Johnson, Matthew and Lucas Hayes, Great Grandchildren, Kylee Allen, Dylan, Nate, and Malachi Threatt, Kash and Potter Johnson, Paisley, Phoenix and Adilae Hayes, Numerous Nieces and Nephews. A Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, December 29, 2016 at Spring Hill Baptist Church with Pastor Brad Threatt officiating. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM - 8:00PM on Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at Baumgartner Funeral Home.
