Rev. Richard "Dick" Holmes Tubbs, Jr., 74, of Pageland, SC passed away on Sunday, May 2, 2021 at his home while surrounded by his loving family. Rev. Tubbs was born on May 31, 1946 in Providence, Rhode Island to the late Richard Holmes Tubbs Sr. and Patricia Ann Hynes Tubbs. He graduated from Holy Cross College, where he received a Bachelor of Science degree. Rev. Tubbs was the minister at First Presbyterian Church of Pageland for eleven years. He had a true love for music, theatre, his community, and his church family. In his youth, he was involved in the high school marching band and was the director of stage production at a small community theater. He sang with the Charlotte Symphony for over ten years. He volunteered for Helping Hands and Blessings in a Backpack. In his spare time, he loved to read. Rev. Tubbs loved to travel with his daughter and grandchildren, and as the Youth Minister at Derita Presbyterian Church he enjoyed numerous mission trips. He had a love for good food, especially cake donuts. Rev. Tubbs is preceded in death by his wife, Kay Ann Krusemark Tubbs. Rev. Richard Tubbs is survived by his son, Richard H. Tubbs, III (Aileen) of Clifton, Virginia; daughter, Nicole Robertson (Jim) of Fredrick, Maryland; brother, Robert J. Tubbs, Jr. of Atlantic Beach, Florida; three grandchildren, Taylor Robertson, Whitney Robertson, and Kelsey Robertson; two nieces, Jennifer Kersmanc and Carly Tubbs; and two nephews, Robert J. Tubbs, III and Brian Tubbs. There will be a Celebration of Life Memorial Service at 2:00 PM on Sunday, May 16, 2021 at First Presbyterian Church of Pageland with Dr. Joel Dale officiating. Following the memorial service, the family will receive friends in the fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Helping Hands, 205 West Pigg Street, Pageland, SC 29728.
