Mr. Robert James Thomas, 83, of Pageland, South Carolina passed away on Saturday, March 10, 2018 surrounded by his loving family and while under the care of Hospice of Chesterfield County. Robert was born on December 19, 1934 in Anson County, North Carolina to the late Clarence Noah Thomas and Wilma Mary Taylor Thomas. He attended Burnsville High School and work as an Auto Mechanic for many years. Robert was a jokester and was always laughing with everyone he met. More importantly, he was a big family man. He loved his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and his two dogs very much, but more than anything, Robert loved his wife, Rosie with all his heart. In his free time, he enjoyed listening to music and dancing, as well as, going fishing and attending yard sales and estate sales. In addition to his parents, Robert is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Tommy and Lillar Taylor, paternal grandparents, Matthew Greene Thomas and Louisa Harrington Thomas, and sisters, Anna Louise Nance and Deanna Elizabeth Mullis. Those left to celebrate and remember his life include his loving wife, Rosie Knight of Pageland, South Carolina; sons, Gerald Thomas (Bonnie) of Chester, South Carolina, Danny Thomas of Charlotte, North Carolina; stepsons, Howard Arrington of Pageland, South Carolina and Jimmy Arrington (Gayla) of Pageland, South Carolina; daughters, Vickie Simmons of Charlotte, North Carolina, Theresa Thomas of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Sherry Kennerly (Allen Thomason) of Charlotte, North Carolina; stepdaughters, Gail Lambert (Brian) of Pageland, South Carolina and Kathy Usher (Lee) of Pageland, South Carolina; brother, Boyce Nelson Thomas of Polkton, North Carolina; sisters, Ollie Mae Long of Monroe, North Carolina, Joy Ann Dennis of Wadesboro, North Carolina, and Myra Elaine Dalgleish of Polkton, North Carolina; also twenty-four grandchildren and twenty-eight great-grandchildren. A Celebration of Life Graveside Service will be held at 3:00 PM on Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at Greenlawn Memorial Park of Pageland with Pastor Steve Sullivan officiating.
