Rodney "Rod" Vann Mullis, 78, of Monroe, NC passed away peacefully on May 14, 2024 in Monroe, North Carolina. He was born on March 31, 1946 in Marshville, North Carolina to the late Joel Vann Mullis and Manie Simpson Mullis.

Rod was predeceased by his brother, Randy Mullis, and his sisters, Donna Gardner and Judy Bailey. He leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories with his devoted wife of 50 years, Pamela Mullis of Monroe, NC; his daughter, Tammy Mullis of Monroe, NC; son, Russell Mullis (Julie) of Monroe, NC; his sister, Gail Baucom (Joe) of Monroe, NC and brothers, Woody Mullis (Shelby) of Monroe, NC, and Tony Mullis (Sharon) of Stanfield, NC, will also hold dear the memory of their brother. Rod's joyous spirit will forever be remembered by his adoring grandchildren, Nathan Mullis (fiancé Morgan Stover), Ashley Kiker, Adrian Kiker and Trevor Mullis, who will continue to be inspired by his life.

Rod spent his professional career in maintenance with the Union County School District, where he was known for his diligent work ethic and the care he took in every task. A man of many interests, Rod's passion for life was evident in everything he did. His love for playing the guitar was only matched by the joy he found in spending time with his family. Music filled his home, and his love for it was infectious. An avid NASCAR fan, Rod shared his enthusiasm for the sport with friends and family alike, making every race an event to look forward to. As a family, they enjoyed attending mud bogs, creating memories that would last a lifetime. Rod's fondness for Westerns could be seen in his relaxed evenings spent watching them on television, and he was a long-time listener of WIXIE radio, where the tunes of the past brought him great comfort and happiness.
