Obituary

Roger Dale McManus, a loving father, brother, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully in Pageland, SC on August 26, 2023. Born on March 6, 1954, in Lancaster, SC, to the late William B. McManus and Lena Seegars McManus. He was preceded in death by his son, Roger Dale McManus Jr., brothers, Sam McManus and Bill McManus, brother-in-law, Gary Miller, nephew, Scott Courtney and niece, Patty Courtney. Roger was known for his creativity, humor, and enduring affection for his family and friends.

Roger is survived by his two daughters, Jessica McManus (JB) of Lancaster, SC, and Kayla McManus (Ivey) of Heath Springs, SC; sisters, Betty Miller of Pageland, SC, and Denise Mullinix (J.A.) of Troy, NC; grandchildren, Angel Baker, Jaxon Smith, Maleah Truesdale, Sadie Vinson, and Emersen McCormick "Little Mc Mc,"; nephews, Ricky Courtney, John Mullinix (Crystal), and Jesse Mullinix, as well as his three great-nephews and great-niece; special friends, Claudia Thomas and Donnie Melton.

Roger's life was marked by his varied interests, which added color and vibrancy to his days. As an ardent fan of the Clemson Tigers and Nascar, he found joy in the thrill of competition and the camaraderie of fellow fans. His love for the game of corn hole was evident not only in his skill as a player but also in the beautiful corn hole boards he crafted. Beyond sports, Roger had a sharp mind that he kept active with crossword puzzles and a soft spot for the humor found in comic strips. Yet, amid these interests, Roger's favorite pastime was undoubtedly spending time with his family. Roger was a man of many talents and interests, but perhaps what set him apart was his unique combination of love, creativity, and humor. These qualities endeared him to all who knew him and will continue to inspire those he leaves behind.

In the words of a comic strip he loved, "Laughter is the shortest distance between two people." Roger Dale McManus certainly knew how to shorten that distance. His memory will forever be treasured in the hearts of his family and friends.
