The legacy of their love continued through their children, Brett Griffin (Claudia) of Mooresville, NC, Tony Griffin (Cindy) of Pageland, SC, and daughter Shelia Griffin of Mooresville, NC. A devoted father, Roy's pride and joy were his children, and this love only grew with the arrival of his grandchildren, Candice Shuey (Brandon), Troy Griffin (Gracelyn), Jovi Griffin, Killy Griffin, and Bode Griffin. He was also a doting great-grandfather to Natalie Shuey, Tripp Shuey, and Kai Shuey. Roy's family was the cornerstone of his life, and he cherished every moment spent with them.
Professionally, Roy dedicated 30 years as the Chief of Operations with the National Security Agency, where his leadership and expertise were invaluable. His colleagues respected him for his integrity and the interesting and funny anecdotes he shared, making the workplace not just a place of business but also of camaraderie.
Roy's interests were as varied as they were passionate. He was an excellent cook, often delighting family and friends with his culinary creations. Traveling was another of Roy's joys, exploring new places and experiencing different cultures. He was an avid NASCAR fan. Roy also found solace and beauty in state parks, where he could be closer to nature and enjoy the tranquility it offered. A lifelong fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Roy's loyalty to his team was as steadfast as his commitment to his family. His sense of humor and interesting stories made him the life of any gathering, and his laughter was infectious.
