Mr. Sammie W. Funderburk Sr., 89, of Heath Springs, South Carolina formerly of Lancaster, South Carolina passed away on Thursday, May 9, 2019 at Heath Springs Residential Care. Mr. Sammie W. Funderburk was born on January 15, 1930 in Pageland, SC to the late Spofford Funderburk and Ada Moree Funderburk. He retired at age 62 from Continental Tire Company. Then he began working with Lancaster County Council on Aging where he drove the bus as well as The Department of the Blind until he was 80 years old. Mr. Sammie was a huge Atlanta Braves Fan. He enjoyed helping the community and anyone in need. In addition to his parents, Sammie is preceded in death by son, Sammy W. Funderburk Jr.; brother, sisters, nieces, nephews and special friend, Margie Evans. Mr. Sammie W. Funderburk is survived by his daughter, Vicki Funderburk of Columbia, SC.
